Contrata Passo dei Tre – San Fratello (ME)
Exhibition and market of the San Fratello Horses. The village of San Fratello is known for a particularly powerful and unique breed of horse. The San Fratello horse has been living in the woods surrounding the village for over a thousand years. A historical horse probably arrived in the area during the 11th century thanks to the Normans. In the nineteenth century – to improve the breed – they were crossed with English, German, Maremma and Salerno horses and later also with Hungarian stallions. Visitors can admire these incredibly beautiful horses in their natural habitat and are entertained with various side events such as tastings of typical culinary products and exhibitions of handiwork products.
